Okay so I get Metro Exodus because its supposed to be one of the foremost games using RTX tech. So I set everything up in the options menu. Running at like 45 fps which is still impressive as fuck seeing as I’m a guy that just updated to a 3090 from a 1060. Anyway at some point I’m back on the options menu and I notice that DLSS isn’t staying enabled. Like click it close menu open menu its off. Troubleshoot the issue. Find this reddit post where this guy is like “I know this is going to sound crazy but Google windows update helper and click update now” I do this. Not only does DLSS work now, but the game performance sky rocketed. Like now im getting 75fps. I have auto updates enabled.
What the heck happened here. I know your basics about computers hardware. I built this PC from parts. I know a good amount about game optimization. Now, this might be one of those ‘you pretty little idiot’ comments but; I had no idea that a windows update file could have such a drastic effect on GPU performance. What in the heck happened here?
Edit: I was at my girlfriends house at the time of posting this. As such some information is not accurate, or incomplete. Will now update the body of the post with accurate/more robust information. I appreciate everyone helping regardless and for your patience.
