Father passed away, home automation simplification & 36 Port Gigabit Switch needed for this mess!

Hi All! My father suddenly & unexpectedly passed away about a month ago. He was a home automation addict and decided to do the whole house by coding his own Raspberry Pi’s as he didn’t want to buy things that go out to an external server for security reasons. As you can imagine, nobody has any idea how this all works and as such, I have been given the task of downgrading the whole house back to a regular, not a mess house.

The Problem:

The whole house is wired up with 36 ethernet ports in different rooms, with the main router being downstairs & wired up to the server room as pictured (its a complete mess & had satellite, TV signals, phone lines, ceiling speakers all wired up to this closet basically).

The big ethernet port rack thing at the bottom (no idea what it is called, will refer to it as the rack thing – please enlighten me to the real name) has 36 ethernet ports. You need to plug an ethernet cable from a switch, into the port rack to connect the port in the wall in a room to the internet if that makes sense.

What I need to do:

I need to completely simplify this horrible mess so my mother can sell it much easier and not scare any buyers off. I am thinking a huge switch with 36 ethernet ports from a big switch, straight into the rack thing. This is what I am looking at buying: TP-Link TL-SG3452

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/business-networking/managed-switch/tl-sg3452/#solutions_cases

Criteria:

– This theoretical switch must be gigabit ethernet enabled & act as a normal household switch (no interaction needed to make it work, Plug & Play type thing I guess is what you would call that?).

– needs to have around 40ports as to have some spare that I can plug a network enabled server into and that kind of stuff

Any help could be greatly appreciated! This has been a horrible time for us all & I have been going through all this *crap* as at some point, a raspberry Pi somewhere is going to go down & then all the lights will stop working, speakers will start buzzing & cameras will go offline. Its kind of ridiculous I know but its the task I’ve been given. Many thanks!
