my father wanted to check his orders on amazon, so he googled “amazon” and google led him to amazon
the site said he his account was blocked, and he would need to contact the number provided
my father contacted the number and the customer service said people was trying to access his account in chicago, and asked if we bought roku tv, apple watch and an apple ipad
but since my father does not understand english properly, he handled the phone to me (we are all internationals)
so I said no to all of those and the customer service said 50$ would be refunded to our account as a sorry from amazon’s mistake
then I thought “ok, problem solved, account unblocked”
I did not suspected from his accent since most time customer centers hire people from other countries and they have a very strong accent, this one was an accent from india
but then the guy proceeded to ask me to press windows + r key, and I asked why, and he said we would “scan his computer to make sure the we remove any hacker viruses”
this triggered all the alarms in my head, I asked the guy to hold on and started talking in my native language with my father
asked him to see the “amazon website”, the website address was something like “rokutv.free.offer”, so I noticed my father was led by google to a scam website somehow
so I proceeded to type “amazon.com” in the browser and the account opened up, I proceeded to change the password while telling the guy to stay on hold
then enabled 2fA for the account and again asking the guy to hold on
so problem solved, but I still had the “customer service” on the line
the guy started to get nervous and asked to “not try to be smart, I’ll guide you on how to protect yourself from hackers”
that was the last straw for me, I went full troll mode and started to do what my father called “psychological torture” by telling him I could not find the computer key
then he asked to look on the bottom left corner of the keyboard, 3 keys to the right
then I asked how do I do it, and he said I just had to look at the keyboard and press it
then asked where the key board was
he said “in front of you”
“in front of me where?”
and we repeated this cycle for more 5 minutes until he began to get angry at me and ask me if I was thought he was a clown or something (which I indeed think he is) and hung up…
my question is, is there anywhere I can report his phone number? this kind of people really pisses me off
