So for the past several months, My Google Assistant has been randomly activating and fucking with me in ways that are trivial but annoying. It would randomly turn up or down my volume, or pause the video I was watching, or even skip to the next video. It’d also randomly activate and prevent me from doing anything unless I pressed the circle or square button.
So around November I turned the damn thing off. Went into settings and turned off Google Assistant. And it still activates. Except instead of showing up with the actual Google Assistant, it’ll show a prompt saying “Your Google Assistant is here to help, Turn On“, as if it’s actively trying to force me to turn it back on.
Imo I think the thing evolved to be sapient somehow. The tablet is super old (it’s a model from the early 2010’s, around 2012), so it’s possible I guess. Either that, or it’s a hacker.
The scariest part is, whenever I tried looking up how to permanently delete the “assistant”, or how to tell if an assistant is hacked, it’d show up the prompt to prevent me from looking at the page. I’m freaking tf out and idk what to do.
