New IT job. Looking advice on what’s the best way staff should communicate with me.

I just landed a job in IT for a high school. Mainly helping teachers and staff. The previous guy they had there according to the principal was never available and it was hard to get him to work on stuff on time.

In my previous position I worked in a much smaller school and I had more of an open door policy: if you need help come to my office/call/email and I’ll usually be there right away.

But in a school of over 150 staff members and 900 plus computers/chrome book/ macs/ iPads
I don’t see that being too smart of an idea and I can see it getting overwhelming if I don’t have a plan/structure in place.

So I’m here asking for ideas on how I can have some type of “communication protocol” for staff members to contact me that will allow me to be able to assist them in a timely fashion and set expectations for them. I want to be as available as possible for my school but I also don’t to be crushed by workload.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks everyone.
